Yesterday, The Economist posted an amazing video: "Climate change technology; is shading the earth too risky?" discussing the concept and controversy behind the emerging field. I highly encourage watching the video for more details, but here are some highlights:

In 2021, a research test was canceled in fear of the mindset that might be inspired in large, carbon-intensive industries regarding CO2 reduction efforts in the face of a successful trial.

By slowing research, the academic community has yet to fully grasp the efficacy and downstream effects of this technology.
